LUCID

Updated: · GrowNow team

LUCID is the German register of packaging producers run by the Zentrale Stelle Verpackungsregister (ZSVR). Whoever first makes packaged goods available in Germany must register in it before the first sale and pay for the packaging in a dual system. Registration is free and cannot be delegated to a third party.

From 12 August 2026, companies without a registered office in Germany appoint an authorised representative and name them in LUCID; changes to existing registrations must be made by 12 November 2026.

LUCID covers Germany only: selling into the UK needs a registration under the UK’s own packaging EPR scheme.

Why it matters for manufacturers

Amazon requires a LUCID number from sellers who ship goods to customers in Germany and blocks offers without a valid registration.
