Responsible person (GPSR)
Updated: · GrowNow team
The responsible person is an economic operator established in the EU who is responsible for a product on the Union market (Article 16 of the GPSR). In order, this can be a manufacturer established in the EU, the importer, an authorised representative or a fulfilment service provider.
A Polish manufacturer is itself the responsible economic operator – it gives its own details in the listing and on the product. A separate responsible person is only needed when a brand manufactures outside the EU and has no importer in the Union.
The GPSR is an EU regulation, so it does not govern sales into Great Britain, which has its own product safety rules.
The responsible operator’s details must be visible in every marketplace listing (Article 19 GPSR). Without them, platforms hide the listing.
